Dawn App, Inc. (“Dawn,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the Dawn mobile application (the “App”) and related services.

2. Information We Collect

Dawn is designed to work without an account. We do not require you to sign up, and your prayers, alarms, and preferences are stored locally on your device.

2.1 Information Processed On Your Device

  • Microphone & Speech: When an alarm is active, Dawn uses your microphone to listen as you recite your prayer. Speech recognition is performed on-device. We do not record, store, or transmit your audio.
  • Prayer & Alarm Settings: The prayers you choose, your alarm times, and your in-app preferences are stored locally on your device.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Device Information: Device model, operating system version, and app version.
  • Usage Data: Anonymized, aggregated feature usage to help us improve the App.
  • Performance Data: Crash logs, diagnostics, and performance metrics.
  • Subscription Information: Purchase and subscription status, processed by Apple and our payment provider.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • Provide and maintain the App’s core functionality (alarms and recite-to-dismiss)
  • Recognize your spoken prayer on-device to dismiss the alarm
  • Improve reliability, performance, and the user experience
  • Process subscriptions and payments
  • Send service-related notifications
  • Detect, prevent, and address technical issues
  • Comply with legal obligations

4. Microphone Access

Dawn requests microphone access so it can detect when you recite your prayer and dismiss the alarm. Speech is processed entirely on your device using Apple’s on-device speech framework. We do not save audio recordings, and your speech is never uploaded to our servers. You can revoke microphone access at any time in your device settings, but the recite-to-dismiss feature will not work without it.

5. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. We may share limited data with:

  • Service Providers: Analytics and payment processing partners who assist in operating the App.
  • Legal Requirements: When required by law, regulation, or legal process.

6. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit (TLS). Because most of your data stays on your device, your exposure is minimal. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Data Retention

Your prayers, alarms, and preferences remain on your device until you delete the App or clear them in settings. Anonymized diagnostic data is retained only as long as needed to maintain and improve the service.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access, correct, or delete your personal data
  • Object to or restrict processing of your data
  • Withdraw consent at any time
  • Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority

The App is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete such information.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new policy in the App and updating the “Last updated” date. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
